Prairie Sumac
Honeybees forage on prairie sumac for nectar and pollen during its mid-summer bloom, which peaks in July and August and helps bridge potential nectar dearths. The small white flowers in panicles attract a variety of pollinators, though honeybees particularly value the nectar rewards. As a suckering shrub, it forms dense thickets that may need pruning or containment to fit apiary landscapes.
