Chinese tallow

Triadica sebifera
In the United States: Invasive · also called popcorn tree, Florida aspen, chicken tree
Listed as invasive. Check local regulations — several jurisdictions restrict planting.

Honeybees forage heavily on Chinese tallow for its abundant nectar and pollen during spring bloom, yielding a light-colored, mild honey. Peak flowering occurs in late spring over several weeks, with protogynous flowers promoting cross-pollination. The fast-growing deciduous tree tolerates both wet and dry soils but suckers prolifically from roots, forming dense thickets that may require vigilant management to prevent overgrowth.
