Honey bees are strongly attracted to the fragrant flowers for abundant high-sugar nectar that can support honey production; bumble bees and other bees also visit for nectar and pollen. Bloom peaks in mid-summer with umbels of pinkish-purple flowers. The plant spreads aggressively via rhizomes and may require management to control its colony-forming habit.
