Low-growing evergreen shrublet in the mint family with needle-like leaves that produces lavender blooms attractive to honeybees. Historically provided a nectar flow in its native range though reliability varies with conditions; blooms from late winter into spring with possible extended flowering in mild climates. Thrives in sandy, well-drained acidic soils and tolerates drought once established.
