Late-summer to early-fall blooming perennial in the aster family that supplies nectar and pollen to bees, including long-tongued species, during a period of limited floral resources. Attracts a range of pollinators and provides dead stems suitable for nesting by stem-nesting bees if left intact. Tall, sturdy growth in moist to average soils with full sun to partial shade.
