Sweet Clover
Melilotus spp.
Honey bees forage extensively on sweet clover for its abundant nectar, which supports significant summer honey flows, and substantial pollen for brood rearing. Peak bloom typically spans June through August in northern hemisphere temperate zones. As a biennial, it self-seeds readily and can become invasive in disturbed areas, so beekeepers should monitor for overabundance in pastures.
