A low-growing subshrub with clusters of small yellow flowers that attract honeybees and other pollinators during late summer and fall. It provides moderate nectar and pollen resources in arid and semi-arid rangelands, though it is not a major honey producer. Plants are drought-tolerant and often colonize disturbed or overgrazed sites.
