Skunk Currant

Ribes glandulosum

Honeybees and native bees forage on skunk currant for both nectar and pollen during its May-June bloom period in northern wetlands and forests. Peak bloom aligns with early summer when shade-tolerant floral resources are limited. It thrives in moist, acidic soils under partial shade but can host white pine blister rust, so manage accordingly near susceptible pines.
