Low-growing herbaceous perennial in the mint family producing cylindrical spikes of purple flowers that supply nectar and pollen to honeybees and other pollinators over an extended summer period. It grows well in moist to average soils in meadows, lawns, and disturbed areas and is generally deer-resistant.
