Honeybees forage on red huckleberry for moderate amounts of nectar and pollen during its late spring bloom period. The urn-shaped flowers attract a variety of pollinators, though honeybees may collect resources less efficiently than native bees using buzz pollination. This woodland shrub prefers moist, acidic soils in partial shade and can be susceptible to deer browsing.
