Primula vulgaris
In the United States: Cultivated

Early spring perennial providing nectar and pollen for long-tongued bees such as certain bumblebees and hairy-footed flower bees when few other sources are available. Flowers are tubular with nectar at the base, accessible primarily to insects with longer mouthparts; honeybees visit mainly for pollen. Thrives in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soils in partial shade or woodland edges; self-seeds readily and forms rosettes of crinkled leaves.
