Prairie clover
A nitrogen-fixing legume whose dense cylindrical flower spikes provide both nectar and pollen to honey bees and native bees throughout mid-summer. Bloom occurs on upright stems 1-3 ft tall in full sun on well-drained soils; plants are long-lived once established but slow to mature from seed.
