Tubular flowers on long spikes produce abundant nectar visited by honeybees and other long-tongued bees along with butterflies and hummingbirds. Bloom is continuous or nearly so in frost-free conditions, peaking in summer through fall. Tender to frost; benefits from pruning to encourage branching and denser flowering.
