Pink Azalea
Rhododendron periclymenoides
Honeybees visit pink azalea for its fragrant nectar and pollen during early spring, supporting foraging when other sources are scarce, with peak bloom in April to May. Though some rhododendrons can yield toxic 'mad honey' if bees rely heavily on them, this native species is generally safe in moderation and highly valued by native pollinators. Grow in acidic, well-drained soil in partial shade to avoid leaf scorch; it may attract deer browsing.
