Mulefat
Honeybees visit primarily for pollen from the small, white, fuzzy flowers, with nectar more attractive to butterflies; peak bloom in late summer to fall provides important late-season forage in riparian areas. As a dioecious species, both male and female plants should be planted to ensure pollination and seed set, though male plants offer abundant pollen. It forms dense thickets and prefers moist soils but tolerates some drought once established.
