Huajillo
Honeybees are attracted to the fragrant spherical flower heads of guajillo for its copious nectar, which yields a prized light-colored, mild honey during the early spring bloom period peaking in March. The flowers also supply moderate pollen to support brood rearing. This resilient shrub prefers well-drained, calcareous soils in full sun and is drought-tolerant once established, though it benefits from occasional irrigation in arid conditions and protection from heavy browsing to ensure optimal flowering.
