Foothill Penstemon
Penstemon heterophyllus
Honeybees visit foothill penstemon for its tubular flowers offering nectar and pollen during the spring to early summer bloom, with peak activity in May and June in its native range. This drought-tolerant perennial supports foragers in dry, sunny habitats but may require deer protection in some areas. It is not a major surplus producer but provides consistent resources in California gardens.
