Dutchman's Breeches
Dicentra cucullaria
Dutchman's breeches provides essential early-spring nectar and pollen for honeybees and queen bumblebees provisioning new colonies. Bloom peaks in April before the plant goes dormant in summer. It thrives in partial to full shade with moist woodland soil and is not invasive, though deer may browse foliage.
