Deerbrush Ceanothus

Ceanothus integerrimus
In the United States: Native · also called deer brush

Deerbrush provides abundant nectar and pollen for honey bees in late spring, supporting foragers during peak bloom when flower clusters are profuse. The nitrogen-fixing shrub blooms reliably on dry slopes and in open woodlands, with heaviest flowering in May and June. It tolerates well-drained soils and partial shade but can be browsed by deer.
