Buckbrush

Ceanothus cuneatus
In the United States: Native · also called wedgeleaf ceanothus

Honeybees forage intensively on buckbrush for its plentiful nectar and pollen, especially valuable as an early-season source when other blooms are scarce. Peak flowering occurs in clusters of small white flowers over several weeks in spring. The shrub is highly drought-tolerant in well-drained soils but may need staking or protection from deer on young growth.
