Alpine Bistort

Persicaria vivipara
In the United States: Native · also called mountain bistort

Bees visit alpine bistort primarily for its pollen, with limited nectar available from the small flowers in dense spikes. Peak bloom occurs in July in cool, moist habitats, providing a brief midsummer forage opportunity for small bees. It reproduces vegetatively via bulbils in addition to seeds, forming persistent clumps that may require division to prevent overcrowding.
