Symptoms

Sunken, perforated, greasy-looking cappings; brown ropy larval remains; rotten smell.

Treatment

Burn the colony. AFB spores survive for decades. Most states require reporting to apiary inspector.

Prevention

Buy bees from reputable breeders. Don't share equipment between apiaries without sterilizing.
