Small hive beetles

I've have fairly good luck with using some plastic traps I nest on top of the frames. They're filled halfway with some old grapeseed oil and the bees have been good at chasing beetles into them and the beetles sink into the oil. I seldom see any beetles in my hives, although the traps are slowly filling so the beetles keep coming.

Awesome. I bought some beetle barns and put some diatomaceous earth in them. I’m due to check them next inspection. If they aren’t working I’ll try these recommendations.

I've heard that peppermint Lifesavers stops them very well. but it has to be the lifesaver brand

when i open the beetle barns they went all over,the next time i through it in a bucket of water with a lid

Interesting about the lifesavers, Regis! I wonder if I can use peppermint essential oils…
